NATIONAL NIGHT OUT…………..National Night Out was a huge success this year. Thank you to those who helped in any way. Many people served and gave of themselves so that the community could spend some time enjoying the beautiful evening and getting to know their neighbors. This was a huge team effort!

I observed an interesting conversation last night between two people (neither from the Peace family). One said to the other, “You know for years I see you walking on the other side of the street. It’s funny…….I see you practically every day, but I don’t even know your name.” All it took was a night to slow down and enjoy conversation for these two to actually get to know each other. I think there were many other conversations just like that in our parking lot last night. What a joy it is to bring people together. In fact, Proverbs 12:20 states it better: “Those who promote peace have joy!”

I took away some very clear impressions from the conversations I had with the many new faces that were here. Each person’s story was different having a flavor all to their own. Each person had very positive things to say about Peace, the community and the Police Department’s efforts to curb crime. In fact, in many of my conversations the people asked me more information about the church! There was a sincere desire to know more and find out what exactly is happening.

Let’s keep the momentum going. Make sure to share with others your experience from last night!

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING…………This Sunday after worship we will be having our informational session on the furnace and then, a vote afterwards. Special thanks to those who have done their homework in preparing this issue for the Peace family.

FAITH FORMATION…………..Beginning Wednesday, September 16th, regular Discipleship classes will take for those youth who are interested. The group will meet 20 times throughout the year and will serve as preparation for confirmation. If you would like to attend…….or you know of someone who might be interested, pleas contact me.

SCHOOL SUPPLY GIVE AWAY……….June’s Kids Kloset is partnering with churches to provide school supplies for the students of the Philomath School District. Items that are needed this year include binders, calculators, crayons, paper, scissors, markers, kleenex, glue. Before you pick up items, come and pick up the supply list on the round table in the narthex area of church (the supply list has the exact descriptions). You can simply bring your items to the church and drop them off in the “drop box”.
