THINGS GOING RIGHT.……….We are off to a great start in looking at the Fruit of the Spirit.  This week our focus will be on peace.  I recently heard about a person’s personal transformation to be more at peace in 2017.  His goal was to focus on what was going right rather than upon what was going wrong in his life.  Unfortunately in life, more time and effort are given to focusing in on what is going wrong–it is human nature.  We try fixing our children, changing our relatives, correcting our employees, and disciplining those who don’t do things the right way.  It is often the case that when we are not doing these things, we are thinking and worrying about them.  Our productivity goes down.

What if we changed our way of thinking like this man?  Would life be more peaceful?  Jesus frees us from a glass half empty outlook in life.  With Jesus and his peace, the glass always is just right.

This Sunday we will discover the truth behind this statement: “I am free from anxiety because I have found peace with God, peace with others, and peace with myself.”  Keep looking up and come to be encouraged on Sunday!

SUPERINTENDENT GOFF………….Philomath School District’s Superintendent, Melissa Goff, will be at Peace this Sunday to share with us about District happenings.  Come and give her a warm welcome.  She will stick around after church to greet and answer any questions.  Worship begins at 11 am.

ANNUAL MEETING………Copies of annual reports are available at church.  The annual meeting will be this Sunday after church.  This meeting is very informative and also provides an opportunity for us to celebrate the work that was done in 2016.  To God be the glory.

CHAMBER MEETING…………All are welcome to attend the Philomath Chamber of Commerce meeting tomorrow at noon (January 19).  Please RSVP with me tonight if you do want to attend.  The lunch will be catered by Blue Sky Chinese Restaurant–cost is $10.  The guest speaker is Irene Zenev, who is the Executive Director of the Benton County Historical Society and Museum.  The purpose of the speech is to give and update about the museum’s move to downtown Corvallis and more, pertinent, what this will mean for the Philomath Museum.  Also………….Philomath High School students will be honored for outstanding achievement.  Rumor has it that one of these students is a Peace member.  🙂  Hope to see you here.

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY BEGINNING…………..Modern day Christians often hear and understand the promises of God each Sunday morning at church but then rarely choose to experience them in everyday life.  In One in a Million, Priscilla Shirer invites us to change that pattern for good, living beyond our circumstances and expecting God to move in miraculous ways day after day.  This study will be based on the section of the Bible that focuses on the Promised Land.  The first day for th the study will be Tuesday, January 24 from 9 to 11 am and will meet in Peace’s Fellowship Hall.  If you are interested or if you have questions, please contact Janet Cornelius at 541-231-4899.
