WAR OR PEACE………..We are going to be talking about the subject of peace this Sunday at Peace. The apostle Paul writes that one of the marks of being a true Christian is being a person who brings peace. Listen to his words, “If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all (Romans 12:18).”
We are going to talk practically about how we can put peace into practice. The book “The Anatomy of Peace” breaks down war and peace this way: “A person with a heart at war looks at other people as objects………A person with a heart at peace looks at other people as people.” I found that quote to be very helpful and very accurate to Jesus’ approach to people.
Jesus looked at people as people. He saw their hurts and challenges. He wanted to heal them for the sake of helping them personally. Jesus didn’t view people as objects in which he could win a point or gain more power. Jesus never viewed people as objects. We are going to continue this conversation Sunday. I think it will be time well spent.
And one more thing……………….Melissa Goff will be with us! Melissa is the Superintendent of the Philomath School District. She will be sharing with us how the District is doing and how Peace can better support the administration, staff, and students. I have really enjoyed my conversations with Melissa and hearing about her passion for the community and education. Thanks for taking time to be with us Melissa.
GOSPEL SING…………….Matt and Talia Neely are coming to Peace tomorrow night (Friday at 6 pm) to share song and fellowship. We will have pizza on hand…….please bring a side dish or dessert to share and drink. Thanks for sharing your talents with us Matt and Talia!
CHRISTMAS TREE DOWN…………We need your help on Sunday to take the Christmas Tree down after worship. It should not take too long–many hands make light work!
