HONORING………Somebody recently said, “Only in American business does it happen that people are hired for their strengths and then on the job, beaten up for what they are not so good at.” I have been thinking about that quote quite a bit. If it is true, how frustrating it must be for teachers, engineers, scientists, professors and all sorts of employees! This must be part of the reason why so many people are so dissatisfied and consequently, unproductive in their work.
Christianity offers a whole new way of looking at other people. Consider again Paul’s teaching: “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor (Romans 12)”.
Honoring others is a great virtue. It doesn’t mean we that we completely agree with what another person says and/or believes. It certainly doesn’t mean that we completely stop giving constructing criticism when needed. Honoring simply means that we see the dignity in others–the creatures that God intends them to be–through the faults and all.
I am thankful for each one of you–just as you are!
