TWO HUGE OPPORTUNITIES………….Jesus once said, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”  This weekend we have some opportunities to live according to Jesus’ suggestion.

This Saturday (November 14) is Peace’s Holiday Craft Bazaar.  The event will take place from 9 am to 3 pm in the fellowship hall.  Items will go quickly, so come as early as you can!  Items in the bazaar include gift baskets, baked goods, homemade soups and crafts.  Proceeds from the bazaar go to Feed My Starving Children and local charities.

Also, this Sunday (November 15) is Philomath Community Services’ Open House.  This event goes from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  Think about what each of these programs (under PCS) have accomplished this year:

Food Bank………serves an average of 165 families each month  (this is where all our food collected in the black box in the narthex is deposited–keep those contributions up!)

Gleaners…………serves an average of 124 families each month

Holiday Cheer…..provides gifts and hygiene kits to 33 families

June’s Kids Kloset…..provides clothing to over 138 children each month

Lupe’s Community Garden……revitalized to harvest over 500 lbs. of nutritional produce for the food bank and gleaners.

If you cannot make the open house, come at 7 pm as the confirmation youth and parents serve for an hour at June’s Kids Kloset.

Philomath Community Services is located at 360 S. 9th Street in Philomath.  Hope to see you there Sunday!

TABLES OF PEACE………..For good reason, we are going to hold off on Tables of Peace until the New Year.  Be looking for more information around Christmas about how you can be involved.

SAUL…………..This Sunday we are covering the 10th chapter of The Story: Standing Tall, Falling Hard (pages 129-143).  As you read, consider these questions.

  1. What can we learn about prayer from Hannah and Samuel?
  1. You are on the search committee for the first king of Israel.  What would you look for in your applicants?  What were Saul’s actual qualifications?
