IDENTITY……….There is quite a bit of information about me on my facebook account.  It is public and you can check it out.  Or better yet, become friends with me so that we can keep better track of each other.  You can find out that I went to Ferris High School in Spokane, Washington, that I studied at Gonzaga University, that I studied at Concordia Seminary and that I serve as pastor at Peace Lutheran Church in Philomath.  There is even information about my gender, birthday and religious beliefs.  All of this is informational, but it truly does not explain my identity.

I am Christian–A Christ follower and believer before I am anything else.  Consider these words from John 1:12, “To all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”  You too are a child of God.  Rejoice about this identity above all the other categories and labels that you have or are placed upon you.  You are dearly loved by our heavenly Father.  You are of high value to Him.

This Sunday in the adult Bible Study class we are going to be discussing this great truth:

I am significant because of my position as a child of God.

I hope you find the comfort in this statement that I have.  God’s blessings this week!

POWER IN THE BLOOD……….Peace is hosting the Philomath Community Blood Drive on Friday, October 14th from 1 to 6 pm.  We had 47 openings, we only have 10 left.  So, sign up today!  If you can’t give blood, I would encourage you to stop by and check out what the fellowship hall looks like and say hello to our amazing volunteers.
