WORRY………………Have you noticed what we tend to worry about? Too often our concern is placed upon what others have or haven’t done. We say things like this, “Mark said that he would sign up and help, why hasn’t he done it!!!” Or, something like this, “Jenny finished cleaning out the closet–why didn’t she get rid of the old clothes!”
If our worry is driven by what other people have or haven’t done we will live lives of great disappointment. Our worry will get the best of us.
Let Romans 12 redirect your worry: “Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.”
To succinctly summarize Paul’s gentle push in Romans 12: Focus on how you can help others! Our worry and concern should be placed upon our opportunities to support others.
We are going to be speaking more about this Sunday as we take a look at chapter 5 of The Story: New Commandments and A New Covenant. Come to the adult class at 9:45 for discussion as Brad Hellesto will be leading us. Worship is at 11!
