GOD’S PASSION…………….Have you ever been to a movie that was so fast paced that you didn’t even notice that the time passed by?  If you slipped out for popcorn you were sure to miss something important.

We are going to see that the story from God’s Word is one of those fast paced stories.  It all begins with these words, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”  And from there God moves quickly by creating the sun, moon, stars, fish, animals and all living things.

In all of this fast paced action it may be hard to figure out what God’s passion is.  Birds?  Nope.  Animals?  Not quite.  Sun, moon or stars?  No.  In Genesis 3:8 we find that God is walking in the Garden with Adam and Eve in the “cool of the day.”

Sounds nice if you are in a hot, humid climate, doesn’t it?  And yet the “cool of the day” is not the focus.  God is right with Adam and Eve.  God’s simple vision for his creation was to spend time with them every day.  God is right here with us.  God’s supreme passion is to be with us.

Some people believe that God is some angry robot-like person who sits in the heavens and watches us, waiting for a mistake to be made, so that God can zap us.  Some think that God is so distant that He doesn’t care or has has simply forgotten us.

But from the beginning God has shown us this is not the case.  God wants to be with us.  God has not forgotten you.

This Sunday is a huge Sunday for the Peace family.  It is Rally Day! Choir begins practicing at 8:30.  Sunday School is at 9:45.  Worship begins at 11 with games and fellowship to follow.

This Sunday we are also beginning our journey with The Story.  In preparation read Chapter 1 of the Story.  God pursued Adam and Eve after they had sinned.  God pursued Cain even as Cain was made as a swarm of bees.  Have you ever had a time when you realized then or realize now that God was pursuing you?  The truth is (and we’ll talk about this on Sunday:)) that God has a passion for pursuing you–you may think that God is distant, but in reality He is seeking you out.
