HOW YOU START……….How we start matters. It is true in the races we run, in the school years we begin, in the trips we take and in most of life’s experiences. I remember watching the Olympics this summer and a runner who started off poorly, but with full throttle speed closed the gap with the leader, only to finish in second place. In that particular race, his start determined the outcome.
So it is in faith. Consider Colossians 3:17, “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” It matters that we ask the Lord to bless what we start.
This Sunday, Peace is making a new start. You will want to be here. First, we are going back to our “normal” hours of worship. Sunday School begins at 9:45 in the sanctuary with worship to follow at 11 am. Second, our choir begins its rehearsing and singing during worship–we start at 8:30 am. Third, our Sunday School year begins for our children and youth–Praise the Lord! And, our adults are beginning a great study based on Randy Frazee’s book, Believe. Believe is the sequel to The Story, which we looked at last year. Fourth, we are dedicating our new patio with Rally Day activities and barbecue to follow! It is hard to believe all that has been accomplished this summer!
As we make these new beginnings, it is important to make sure we are starting the right way. All of this will be covered in prayer.
May our year, study, singing and new patio be off to a grand start this weekend. See you there!
BOB MADDUX GRAVESIDE SERVICE………It was shared last Sunday that Bob Maddux, father of Ruth Post, had passed away earlier Sunday morning. Bob’s graveside service will be at Mt. Union Cemetary this Saturday, September 10th at 11 am. Time for coffee and sharing with others will happen at Peace after the service.
ADULT BIBLE STUDY……….We are starting with Chapter 1 of Randy Frazee’s book, Believe, this Sunday. Each week we will begin with a video recap and then continue on with discussion. Books are available for $5. See Oscar if you are interested! Brad Hellesto will be leading the study as we kick off the year–thanks Brad!
CHANGE IN WORSHIP TIME……Just in case you missed it in the small print above. Our times switch back to Sunday School at 9:45 and Worship at 11 am.
