Peace Lutheran Church
We welcome you in the name of the Lord Jesus. We are honored with your presence. If you do not have a church home, you are invited to join us regularly. Please introduce yourself to Pastor Jeremy Lucke or one of the Ushers as you leave today and sign the guest book in the entryway. We continue to observe the guidelines for health safety. If you have any questions, please see an usher. Everyone is welcome.
The ringing of the bell and the lighting of the Christ candle mark the beginning of our service and a time for quiet meditation, prayer and inward reflection as we begin our worship.
Children are welcome at our worship services. If you prefer, Peace Lutheran has a playroom equipped for children three years old and younger. The room is unstaffed and can be accessed in the fellowship hall where the service is also being live streamed for your convenience and enjoyment.
Holy Communion is celebrated every first and third Sunday and will follow the order of service in the bulletin. If you are a baptized Christian and share our faith in Jesus as Savior and have been instructed in the meaning and use of the Lord’s Supper, you are invited to partake. We have pre-wrapped communion wine or juice and wafers. We also have gluten-free wafers available. If you desire a gluten-free wafer, ask the server. May the body and blood of Jesus, present in the bread and wine, be a blessing to you.
There are times during the service when you will be asked to stand if you are able. Please feel free to remain seated if standing is difficult.
Offering. Peace Lutheran Church understands and teaches that Offerings are voluntary and to be from the heart. Whether we give or do not give does not determine our salvation. Whether we give much or little does not determine our standing before God. Sharing an Offering is an opportunity to quietly practice generosity with our neighbors.

AS WE GATHER: The Last Sunday of the Church Year is about the last things, the day of judgement when Jesus Christ “will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead,” Christ, “whose kingdom will have no end” (Nicene Creed). The last Sunday is therefore known as the Sunday of the fulfillment, when all the plans and promises of God’s salvation break forth in the resurrection of all flesh and eternal life in the new heavens and earth. This year we hear the Readings appointed for what the church calls Christ the King Sunday.
By John Ness Beck and Thomas Ken
For seed time and harvest and the good will of men,
We give thanks to God the Father once again;
For shelter in winter, for the thaw in the spring.
Our praise and thanksgiving to the Lord now we bring.
.
For those we have loved, who have gone on before
Through that shining bright celestial door;
For all who shall follow in their place,
We implore Thy continuing saving grace.
.
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye, heav’nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Leader: In the name of the Father, and of the + Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
People: Amen!
Leader: Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good,
People: for His steadfast love endures forever.
Leader: All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord,
People: and all Your saints shall bless You!
Leader: I will give thanks to Your name, O Lord, for it is good.
People: We, Your people, the sheep of Your pasture, will give thanks to You forever; from generation to generation we will give You praise!
ADMITTING OUR FAULTS
Leader: Jesus said, “Everyone who is of the truth listens to My voice.” Today we kneel humbly before Him, our king, confessing the truth that we have sinned against our creator’s clear commands. Let us make our heartfelt petition for mercy, forgiveness, and salvation.
~~~~~ Moment of silence ~~~~~
Leader: We confess.
People: Most merciful Lord, whose majesty has been shown to all nations by Your triumph over all sin and death on Your glorious cross, from Your exalted throne at the right hand of the Father You live and reign over all creation. Receive our pleas for mercy, life, and forgiveness of our sin, and grant to us Your enlivening grace by speaking Your liberating word of truth.
YOU ARE FORGIVEN
Leader: “Everyone who is of the truth listens to My voice.” Upon this, your confession, I, by virtue of my office, as a called and ordained servant of the Word, announce the grace of God unto all of you, and in the stead and by the command of my Lord Jesus Christ I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit.
People: Amen.
SONG OF PRAISE: “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name”
By: Oliver Holden; Arr. Roger Nachtway; Words: Public Domain Music: Public Domain
All hail the pow’r of Jesus’ name!
Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth the royal diadem
And crown him Lord of all.
Bring forth the royal diadem
And crown him Lord of all.
.
Hail him, you heirs of David’s line,
Whom David Lord did call—
The God incarnate, man divine—
And crown him Lord of all.
The God incarnate, man divine—
And crown him Lord of all.
.
Oh, that with yonder sacred throng
We at his feet may fall!
We’ll join the everlasting song
And crown him Lord of all.
We’ll join the everlasting song
And crown him Lord of all.
SERVICE OF THE WORD
Leader: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
Leader: Let us pray.
Leader: Lord Jesus Christ, so govern our hearts and minds by Your Holy Spirit that, ever mindful of Your glorious return, we may persevere in both faith and holiness of living; for You live and reign with the Father and Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
People: Amen.
SCRIPTURE LESSONS
The Old Testament Lesson: Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14
The Ancient of Days gives dominion to the Son of Man
9 “As I looked, thrones were placed, and the Ancient of Days took his seat; his clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames; its wheels were burning fire.
10 A stream of fire issued and came out from before him; a thousand thousands served him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him; the court sat in judgment, and the books were opened.
13 “I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him.
14 And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.
Reader: This is the Word of the Lord.
People: Thanks be to God!
Epistle Lesson: Revelation 1:4b-8
“I am the Alpha and the Omega.”
4 John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne,
5 and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood
6 and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Reader: This is the Word of the Lord.
People: Thanks be to God!
The Gospel Lesson: John 18:33-37
24 “But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, 25 and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.
26 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27 And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.
28 “From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. 29 So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that he is near, at the very gates.
30 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
32 “But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come.
34 It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to stay awake.
35 Therefore stay awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning— 36 lest he come suddenly and find you asleep.
37 And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.”
Leader: This is the Gospel of the Lord.
People: Praise to You, O Christ.
Pastor Jeremy Lucke
People: I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
And born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
And is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
The holy Christian Church,
The communion of saints,
The forgiveness of sins,
The resurrection of the body,
And the life everlasting. Amen.
LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom,
And the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen
SHARING THANKSIVINGS AND GRATITUDE
Leader: We will be celebrating Thanksgiving this week. This is a day dedicated to remembering all that God has done for us and thanking Him for His abundant blessings. Though you may have food to cook and relatives to entertain, be sure to take a moment and pause before the Lord, who has provided You with many blessings. As we close out our worship today, we sing a song of thanksgiving and then uplift our hearts in prayerful thanksgiving.
THANKSGIVING SONG “Now Thank We All Our God”
Text: Martin Rinkhart, 1586-1649; tr. Catherine Winkworth, 1829-1878; Tune: Johann Cruger, 1598-1662
Now thank we all our God
With hearts and hands and voices,
Who wondrous things has done,
In whom his world rejoices;
Who, from our mothers’ arms,
Has blest us on our way
With countless gifts of love,
And still is ours today.
.
Oh, may this bounteous God
Through all our life be near us,
With ever joyful hearts
And blessed peace to cheer us,
And keep us in his grace,
And guide us when perplexed,
And free us from all harm
In this world and the next.
.
All praise and thanks to God
The Father now be given,
The Son, and him who reigns
With them in highest heaven,
The one eternal God,
Whom earth and heav’n adore;
For thus it was, is now,
And shall be evermore.
Leader: Dear Heavenly Father, You have given us abundant earthly blessings. As we celebrate Thanksgiving this week, we thank You for the food and drink that will be on our tables this day and every day. We pray that You would provide also for all those who do not know from where their next meal is coming. Protect all who are traveling for the holiday, and strengthen those who cannot be with family and friends. Be especially with all those who are lonely and who are struggling to find community. Thank You most of all for the gift of Your Son, Jesus. In His name we pray.
People: Amen.
Leader: The almighty and merciful Lord, the Father, the + Son, and the Holy Spirit, bless and preserve you.
People: Amen.
Dismissal
Leader: Go in Peace. Serve the Lord.
