Peace Lutheran Church
We welcome you in the name of the Lord Jesus. We are honored with your presence. If you do not have a church home, you are invited to join us regularly. Please introduce yourself to Pastor Jeremy Lucke or one of the Ushers as you leave today and sign the guest book in the entryway. We continue to observe the guidelines for health safety. If you have any questions, please see an usher. Everyone is welcome.
The ringing of the bell and the lighting of the Christ candle mark the beginning of our service and a time for quiet meditation, prayer and inward reflection as we begin our worship.
Children are welcome at our worship services. If you prefer, Peace Lutheran has a playroom equipped for children three years old and younger. The room is unstaffed and can be accessed in the fellowship hall where the service is also being live streamed for your convenience and enjoyment.
Holy Communion is celebrated every first and third Sunday and will follow the order of service in the bulletin. If you are a baptized Christian and share our faith in Jesus as Savior and have been instructed in the meaning and use of the Lord’s Supper, you are invited to partake. We have pre-wrapped communion wine or juice and wafers. We also have gluten-free wafers available. If you desire a gluten-free wafer, ask the server. May the body and blood of Jesus, present in the bread and wine, be a blessing to you.
There are times during the service when you will be asked to stand if you are able. Please feel free to remain seated if standing is difficult.
Offering. Peace Lutheran Church understands and teaches that Offerings are voluntary and to be from the heart. Whether we give or do not give does not determine our salvation. Whether we give much or little does not determine our standing before God. Sharing an Offering is an opportunity to quietly practice generosity with our neighbors.

AS WE GATHER…““Ready to serve” is our worship theme for today. Luke 1:38 says, “And Mary said, ‘Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to Your word.’ And the angel departed from her.”
As redeemed children of God, the Ladies Guild of Peace gives thanks for the opportunity to serve others as we have been served, to proclaim Jesus is our Lord and that He came for all nations, and the chance to respond with our mite offerings to support God’s mission. Our example has been the widow and her mites. The offering she made was observed by our Lord leading Him to share that her copper coins, her mites, were “everything—all she had to live on” (Mark12:43). May our mite offerings be blessed for our Lord’s Kingdom.
OPENING HYMN “Christ Is Our Cornerstone”
Text: John Chandler, 1806-1876, alt. Tune: John Darwall 1731-1789.; Public Domain
Christ is our corner-stone
On Him alone we build
With His true saints alone
The courts of heaven are filled
On His great love
Our hopes we place
Of present grace
And joys above
.
Here may we gain from heaven
The grace which we implore
And may that grace once given
Be with us evermore
Until that day
When all the blessed
To endless rest
Are called away
.
Oh, then, with hymns of praise
These hallowed courts shall ring;
Our voices we will raise
The Three in One to sing
And thus proclaim in joyful song,
Both loud and long,
That glorious name.
Leader: In the name of the Father and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit.
People: Amen!
BEING HONEST ABOUT OURSELVES…
Leader: Our help is in the name of the Lord,
People: who made heaven and earth.
Leader: If You, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand?
People: But with You there is forgiveness; therefore, You are feared.
Leader: Since we are gathered to hear God’s Word and call upon Him in prayer and praise, let us first consider our unworthiness and confess before God and one another that we have sinned in thought, word, and deed, and that we cannot free ourselves from our sinful condition. Together as His people let us take refuge in the infinite mercy of God, our heavenly Father, seeking His grace for the sake of Christ, and saying: God, be merciful to me, a sinner.
People: Almighty God, have mercy upon us, forgive us our sins, and lead us to everlasting life. Amen.
Leader: Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit.
People: Amen.
HYMN OF PRAISE “Trees of the Field”
Stuart Dauermann; Arr. by Henry Wiens; © 1975, Lillenas Publishing Co.
You shall go out with joy
and be led forth with peace.
The mountains and the hills
will break forth before you;
There’ll be shouts of joy,
and all of the trees of the field
will clap, will clap their hands.
.
Chorus: And all the trees of the field
will clap their hands {clap, clap},
The trees of the field
will clap their hands {clap, clap}.
The trees of the field
will clap their hands {clap, clap},
while you go out with joy.
.
You shall go out with joy
and be led forth with peace.
The mountains and the hills
will break forth before you;
There’ll be shouts of joy,
and all of the trees of the field
Will clap, will clap their hands.
Chorus
SERVICE OF THE WORD
Leader: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
Leader: Let us pray. Almighty God—You announce Your will for us in mysterious and challenging ways. We pray, that, as Mary once heard and accepted the angel’s message of Your will, we too may hear Your call and respond with full faith and willingness to serve; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
People: Amen.
The SCRIPTURE LESSONS
The First Lesson: I Samuel 3:1-10
3 Now the boy Samuel was ministering to the Lord in the presence of Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no frequent vision.
2 At that time Eli, whose eyesight had begun to grow dim so that he could not see, was lying down in his own place. 3 The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was.
4 Then the Lord called Samuel, and he said, “Here I am!” 5 and ran to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call; lie down again.” So he went and lay down.
6 And the Lord called again, “Samuel!” and Samuel arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call, my son; lie down again.”
7 Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, and the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him.
8 And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli perceived that the Lord was calling the boy.
9 Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down, and if he calls you, you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant hears.’ ” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 And the Lord came and stood, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant hears.”
Reader: This is the Word of the Lord.
People: Thanks be to God.
Leader: The Holy Gospel according to St. John, the fourteenth chapter.
People: Glory to You, O Lord.
25 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
28 You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
29 And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe. 30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me,
Leader: This is the Gospel of the Lord.
People: Praise to You, O Christ.
SERMON HYMN: “Blessed Assurance”
By: Fanny J. Crosby & Mrs. J.F. Knapp; ©1971 by William J. Glaither. The Other Song Book.
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
.
Chorus: This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long;
this is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.
.
Perfect submission, perfect delight,
visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
angels descending bring from above
echoes of mercy, whispers of love.
Chorus
Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest;
watching and waiting, looking above,
filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
Chorus

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH: THE LWML PLEDGE
People: In fervent gratitude for the Savior’s dying love and His blood-bought gift of redemption we dedicate ourselves to Him with all that we are and have; and in obedience to His call for workers in the harvest fields, we pledge Him our willing service wherever and whenever He has need of us. We consecrate to our Savior our hands to work for Him, our feet to go on His errands, our voice to sing His praises, our lips to proclaim His redeeming love, our silver and our gold to extend His Kingdom, our will to do His will, and every power of our life to the great task of bringing the lost and the erring into eternal fellowship with Him. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom,
And the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen
Leader: The Lord bless you and keep you,
The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you.
The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace.
People: Amen.
CLOSING SONG: “Have Thine Own Way”
Author: Adelaide A. Pollard (1906); Tune: ADELAIDE (Stebbins)
Have Thine own way, Lord!
Have Thine own way!
Thou art the Potter;
I am the clay
Mould me and make me
After Thy will,
While I am waiting,
Yielded and still.
.
Have Thine own way Lord!
Have Thine own way!
Search me and try me,
Master, today!
Whiter than snow, Lord,
Wash me just now,
As in Thy presence
Humbly I bow.
.
Have Thine own way, Lord!
Have Thine own way!
Wounded and weary,
Help me, I pray!
Power—all power—
Surely is Thine!
Touch me and heal me,
Saviour divine!
.
Have Thine own way, Lord!
Have Thine own way!
Hold o’er my being
Absolute sway!
Fill with Thy Spirit
Till all shall see
Christ only, always,
Living in me!
Leader: Go in peace! Serve the Lord!
People: Thanks be to God!
