FOURTH SUNDAY IN LENT

March 22, 2020

WELCOME & ANNOUNCMENTS

SONG OF TRUST:  “He Leadeth Me”

He leadeth me: oh, blessed thought! Oh, words with heav’nly comfort fraught!

What-e’er I do, wher-e’er I be, Still ‘tis God’s hand that leadeth me.

He leadeth me, he leadeth me, By his own hand he leadeth me.

His faithful foll’wer I would be, For by his hand he leadeth me.

Sometimes mide scenes of deepest gloom, Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom,

By waters calm, o’er troubled sea, Still ‘tis God’s hand that leadeth me.

He leadeth me, he leadeth me, By his own hand he leadeth me.

His faithful foll’wer I would be, For by his hand he leadeth me.

And when my task on earth is done, When by thy grace the vict’ry’s won,

E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee, Since God through Jordan leadeth me.

He leadeth me, he leadeth me, By his own hand he leadeth me.

His faithful foll’wer I would be, For by his hand he leadeth me.

X WORD X

RLC Text:                                1 Corinthians 12:4-11

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

Reader:              This is the Word of the Lord.

People:   Thanks be to God.

SERMON

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH

Pastor:            Let us pray for the whole church of God in Christ Jesus and for all people according to their needs.

Gracious Lord shine Your light of mercy and grace into our darkened hearts of sin and eyes blinded to Your will and ways, so that we know the fullness of Your forgiveness, life, and peace. Lord, in Your mercy,

People:                   hear our prayer.

Pastor:            Healing Lord, shine Your light of peace and healing to all who seek relief, for the sick and dying, for those troubled physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally, and for the grieving and the dying, that Your comfort be known, [especially . . .]. Lord, in Your mercy,

People:                   hear our prayer.

Pastor:            Lord of all nations, You graciously give Your children all that they need to support this body and life. Grant Your grace to those in need during this time of difficultly in the world. Open Your hand and satisfy their needs. Lord, in Your mercy,

People:                   hear our prayer.

Pastor:            Lord of the church, You have called Your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that Your hand is leading us and Your love supporting us. Lord, in Your mercy,

People:                   hear our prayer.

Pastor:            Merciful Lord, You have committed to our love and care our fellow human beings and their necessities. Graciously be with and prosper all those who serve the sick. Let their service be abundantly blessed as they bring relief to the suffering, comfort to the sorrowing, and peace to the dying. Grant them the knowledge that inasmuch as they do it unto the least of the these, they do it unto Him. Lord, in Your mercy,

People:                   hear our prayer.

Pastor:            Into Your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in Your mercy, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

People:                   Amen.

LORD’S PRAYER:                         Matthew 6:9–13

People:         Our Father who art in heaven,

                         hallowed be Thy name,

                         Thy kingdom come,

                         Thy will be done on earth

                                   as it is in heaven;

                         give us this day our daily bread;

                         and forgive us our trespasses

                                   as we forgive those

                                   who trespass against us;

                         and lead us not into temptation,

                         but deliver us from evil.

                    For Thine is the kingdom

                         and the power and the glory

                         forever and ever. Amen.

BENEDICTION:                 Numbers 6:24–26

Pastor:            The Lord bless you and keep you.
The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you.
The Lord look upon you with favor and X give you peace.

People:                   Amen.
