Peace Lutheran Church
We welcome you in the name of the Lord Jesus. We are honored with your presence. If you do not have a church home, you are invited to join us regularly. Please introduce yourself to Pastor Jeremy Lucke or one of the Ushers as you leave today and sign the guest book in the entryway. We continue to observe the guidelines for health safety. If you have any questions, please see an usher. Everyone is welcome.
The ringing of the bell and the lighting of the Christ candle mark the beginning of our service and a time for quiet meditation, prayer and inward reflection as we begin our worship.
Children are welcome at our worship services. If you prefer, Peace Lutheran has a playroom equipped for children three years old and younger. The room is unstaffed and can be accessed in the fellowship hall where the service is also being live streamed for your convenience and enjoyment.
Holy Communion is celebrated every first and third Sunday and will follow the order of service in the bulletin. If you are a baptized Christian and share our faith in Jesus as Savior and have been instructed in the meaning and use of the Lord’s Supper, you are invited to partake. We have pre-wrapped communion wine or juice and wafers. We also have gluten-free wafers available. If you desire a gluten-free wafer, ask the server. May the body and blood of Jesus, present in the bread and wine, be a blessing to you.
There are times during the service when you will be asked to stand if you are able. Please feel free to remain seated if standing is difficult.
Offering. Peace Lutheran Church understands and teaches that Offerings are voluntary and to be from the heart. Whether we give or do not give does not determine our salvation. Whether we give much or little does not determine our standing before God. Sharing an Offering is an opportunity to quietly practice generosity with our neighbors.

AS WE GATHER……..Today Jesus continues to prepare His disciples for His departure. He will leave them again at His ascension. Yet He wants us to know and believe that He never really leaves us. He tells us that He will be with us always. He calls the Holy Spirit “another Helper”. This Helper is by our side at worship and as we go from this place.
RINGING OF THE BELL……..After the ringing of the bell we take a moment in silence to prepare our hearts and minds for today’s worship.
OPENING SONG “You are My All in All”
Dennis Jernigan; 1991 Shepherd’s Heart Music, Inc. (Admin. by PraiseCharts Publishing, Inc.)
You are my strength when I am weak,
You are the Treasure that I seek,
You are my All in All.
Seeking You as a precious jewel,
Lord to give up I’d be a fool.
You are my All in All.
.
Chorus: Jesus, Lamb of God, Worthy is Your name.
Jesus, Lamb of God, Worthy is Your name.
.
Taking my sin, my cross, my shame,
rising again I bless Your name.
You are my All in All.
When I fall down, You pick me up;
When I am dry, You fill my cup.
You my All in All
Chorus
Leader: Almighty God, send Your Holy Spirit into our hearts in worship today that He may rule, direct and comfort us. We humbly ask that the Holy Spirit would go with us today so that we can be strengthened to do good works for others. We pray this in the name of Jesus, Your Son, our Lord.
People: Amen.
WE CONFESS OUR SINS
Leader: Dear friends, Jesus said, “I will be with you always.” Let us take Him at His word and come into His presence, sharing our great need as we confess our sins and ask for forgiveness.
People: I confess to almighty God all my sins with which I have offended You, especially the sin of trying to go it alone without You. On my own, I am weak, and sin so easily makes me forget Your will for my life. Because of Your merciful death on the cross and in the power of Your resurrection from the dead, let me hear from You the words of Your grace and forgiveness and new life. Amen.
RECEIVE GOD’S FORGIVENESS
Leader: In keeping with His promise, the Lord sends another helper to deliver His own words of forgiveness. So now, as a called and ordained servant of Christ and by His authority, I forgive you all your sins, in the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit.
People: Amen.
SONG OF PRAISE
Leader: Can athletes write music? Maltbie Babcock was an athlete. An outstanding baseball pitcher and a champion swimmer, he kept himself in shape by running. When he was pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Lockport, New York, he would run out in the early morning to the brow of the hill two miles away and look over at Lake Ontario. Before he left, he would tell his church staff, “I am going out to see my Father’s world.” From the brow of the hill, he would run two more miles to a deep ravine where as many as forty different species of birds found a sanctuary. Then he would run back. Perhaps it was Babcock’s love of athletics and nature that inspired our praise song for today: This Is My Father’s World.
PRAISE SONG “This is My Father’s World”

This is my Father’s world,
and to my list’ning ears
all nature sings,
and round me rings
the music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world;
I rest me in the thought
of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
His hand the wonders wrought.
.
This is my Father’s world;
the birds their carols raise;
the morning light, the lily white,
declare their maker’s praise.
This is my Father’s world;
He shines in all that’s fair.
in the rustling
grass I hear him pass;
He speaks to me ev’ry where.
.
This is my Father’s world;
oh, let me not forget
that, though the wrong
seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world,
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is king, let the heavens ring;
God reigns, let the earth be glad!
Leader: We pray together.
People: Come to us, Holy Spirit, and teach us the way, the truth, and the life. Help us to keep Your commandments and to love You with our whole heart and our neighbor as ourselves. You live and reign with the Father and the Son, one God, now and forever. Amen.
SCRIPTURE LESSONS
Epistle: Revelation 21:9-14, 21-27
Nothing unclean will ever enter the new Jerusalem.
9 Then came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues and spoke to me, saying, “Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great, high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God, its radiance like a most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.
12 It had a great, high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel were inscribed— 13 on the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl, and the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. 22 And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. 23 And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it, 25 and its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there.
26 They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. 27 But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
Reader: This is the Word of the Lord.
People: Thanks be to God.
Jesus heals a man on the Sabbath.
5 After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Aramaic called Bethesda, which has five roofed colonnades. 3 In these lay a multitude of invalids—blind, lame, and paralyzed. 5 One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?”
7 The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.” 8 Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” 9 And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked. Now that day was the Sabbath.

Amazing grace how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost but now am found;
Was blind but now I see.
.
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
.
Thro’ many dangers, toils, and snares
I have already come;
‘Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.
Pastor Jeremy Lucke
People: I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
And was born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven
And is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
The holy Christian Church,
The communion of saints,
The forgiveness of sins,
The resurrection of the body,
And the life everlasting. Amen.

CLOSING SONG “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee”
Text: Samuel F Smith, 1805-1895, Tune: Thesaurus Musicus, London, 1744; © 1978 by Lutheran Church in America The American Lutheran Church, The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada, The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod
My country, ‘tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing:
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims’ pride,
From every mountainside
Let freedom ring.
.
My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free,
Thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture thrills
Like that above.
.
Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom’s song;
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.
.
Our fathers’ God, to thee,
Author of liberty,
To thee we sing:
Long may our land be bright
With freedom’s holy light.
Protect us by thy might,
Great God, our king.
Leader: Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
People: Thanks be to God!

CHRISTIAN CAREGIVING………… Pastor Lucke is offering Christian Caregiving Skill building classes in the weeks ahead via zoom. All are welcome to attend. The sessions will be on the Wednesdays of May 28 and June 4 at 10 am. The sessions won’t go any longer than 40 minutes. It is certainly good to seek professional counseling services for serious concerns (ie. serious mental or emotional disturbance, severe depression, etc.). There are ,however, some ways in which Christians can support others who are experiencing common life crises: death of a loved one, financial problems, feeling guilty, separation from a loved one. Pastor Lucke’s sessions will address how to caregive in these instances. See him if you would like to attend so that you can receive the email link.
FURNITURE SHARE…………… Peace is supporting a new community partner this year: Furniture Share. The housing crunch in Benton County is a well known problem. One item we don’t often think about is furniture. Due to the high cost in housing, many people struggle filling their homes with essential furniture, household items and food boxes. Furniture Share provides for 4,000 individuals each year at the poverty/extreme low income level. Do you want to find out more about Furniture Share and visit? Peace has been invited for a tour of the facility and to find out more about its mission. The date of the visit is Thursday, May 29th at 2:00 pm. Let Pastor Lucke know if you’d like to attend!
NEW MEMBER CLASS…………… Pastor Lucke will be offering a new member class in the month of June. RSVP to him so that date and time can be best determined. This is an opportunity to discover what it means to be Lutheran, what values Peace holds dear, and how a person can find a place to belong and serve in the church family.
